Bentonne Snay has worked for Democratic and progressive causes and candidates since joining the 1972 NOW Miami-Dade board of directors.
After joining the Coral Gables Democrats’ board in 2017, she became board secretary in 2018 and president in late 2019.
Prior activities include Women for Obama in 2008 and 2012, as well as the 2016 Clinton campaign.
President and CEO of The Snay Group, Inc., Bentonne has served nonprofit organizations for over 40 years. She has BA and MPA degrees from FIU. She has broad-based executive, organizing and fundraising experience as founding executive director of Communities in Schools of Miami and the Burger King McLamore Foundation. She excels at award-winning grant proposal development, writing over 500 proposals yielding nearly $50 million in grant awards for over 50 nonprofits. Bentonne is a past president and current member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Miami and Grant Professionals Association South Florida.
Bentonne is married to now-retired Riviera Schools Headmaster Patrick W. Snay with whom she lives in the Historic District along with one small dog and four cats. She has one daughter, who is an Assistant District Attorney in the Bronx N.Y. Special Victims Unit.
