Gordon M Dickinson, MD, joined the Coral Gables Democrats in January 2023. He joined because the club offers him an opportunity to work with diverse people whose political ideals are like his. I joined the Coral Gables Democrats’ board of directors in March 2025.
He is a semi-retired professor of medicine at the University of Miami and recently retired long-time staff physician at the Miami Veteran’s Administration Medical Center.
He is also a veteran of the US Army. He grew up in a liberal Republican family in the woods of northern Idaho before heading southeast to Miami, where he has lived since 1969. Along the way, I became radicalized into the Democratic Party. His favorite political slogan: “I do not belong to an organized political party. I am a Democrat.”
