Jane grew up in Texas but moved north after she met Norman in 1967 when they were counselors at a Jewish summer camp in the Catskills. Her first career was as a computer programmer, but later she and Norman went to law school.
After they graduated from Harvard Law School in 1977, she became a federal prosecutor first in Washington DC, then Baltimore and finally in Miami, having moved here in 1982.
From 1987 until she retired, she was a white-collar criminal defense and trial attorney. In all those years, she worked for Democratic candidates and to protect the vote on the side. Now her main focus is protecting the vote and electing Democrats. She is the Chair of Voter Protection for the Miami Dade Dems and the Vice President of the Coral Gables Democrats.
Jane and Norman have two daughters and three grandchildren. Ariela is the Director of Communications for the national nonprofit Decriminalize Sex Work. Her son, Ilias, 12, is a seventh grader at Ponce de Leon Middle School. Anna is an oncologist/hematologist at the VA in Dallas, and her husband Bailey Lindenmaier is completing his fellowship in pulmonology at UT Southwestern. They are the parents of William, 3, and Gabrielle, 1.
