My Story

Monica Skoko Rodriguez is a Miami-native, nurse leader, and organizer and works as the Director of Medical Standards at Planned Parenthood Federation of America. In addition to the Coral Gables Democrats’ board, she serves as secretary of the Florida abortion fund, Women’s Emergency Network. She is the former Executive Director of the Commission for Women at Miami-Dade County, a past President of the League of Women Voters Miami-Dade, and past board member of the National League of Women Voters.

She was a Miami’s Next Leaders fellow and part of Planned Parenthood’s National Speakers Bureau. She has advocated for public health and reproductive justice at the local, state, and national levels. She holds a BFA from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, a BSN from University of Miami’s School of Nursing, a Masters in Public Health from Johns Hopkins’ Bloomberg School of Public Health, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Duke University. She has worked as a nurse at Planned Parenthood providing abortion care, a School Health nurse in Title 1 schools, and as a Senior Health Educator at the FL Department of Health. Monica enjoys baking, gardening, pilates, traveling, and reading.
